NATGAS: Papua LNG FID Set for Late 2025: Argus

An FID on the 5.6m mtpa is likely to be taken in late 2025, Australian independent Santon’ CEO said in an H1 earning’s report, cited by Argus.

  • The joint venture is working to reset to reset the initial engineering phase of the project.
  • The preferred development concept continues to include processing up to 2m mtpa of Papua New Guinea’s raw gas through the 6.9m mtpa ExxonMobil-operated plant.
  • The plant had initially been expected to reach an FID in early 2024 ahead of a startup in 2028. However, this timeline was delayed in April.
