Natural Gas Imports to Europe Recover in Week 39: Bruegel

Natural gas import supplies to Europe have recovered from the lows seen two weeks ago driven by the return of Norwegian pipeline supplies according to Bruegel data.

  • LNG imports also edged back up after a recent dip while Russian flows also increase slightly. UK imports remained stable on the week while flows from Algeria and Azerbaijan drifted back after gains in recent weeks.
  • Total imports increased to 5,458mcm in week 39 compared to the low of 4,835 in week 37 but still below the 2015-2022 minimum at this time of year of 6,296mcm.
  • LNG utilisation was above the 2019-2021 average in most countries except for Greece, Lithuania and Portugal.
