New Fortress Expects Mexico LNG Production This Year

LNG

New Fortress Energy expects LNG production to begin at Mexico’s Altamira export plant by the end of 2023, according to Reuters.

  • When fully operational, the facility has a nameplate production capacity of around 1.4m mtpa and will be Mexico’s first LNG export terminal.
  • The gas will be supplied by the Sur de Texas-Tuxpan pipeline.
  • The terminal is on the Gulf of Mexico Coastline. There are other potential projects for LNG in Mexico, with some on the Pacific Coast – allowing Asian buyers to circumvent the increasingly congested Panama Canal when loading cargoes from North America.
