"No Labels" Event In New Hampshire Underway Shortly

The independent group, No Labels, is shortly due to hold the first event in its bid to become a credible alternative to traditionally partisan US politics. Democrats are concerned that the group could undercut Democrats in 2024 or hand Republicans the crucial West Virginia Senate seat, should Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV).

• Manchin will be in attendance at the New Hampshire event today, amid speculation that the centrist Democrat may be preparing to announce a White House run with the group.
• Manchin told the Washington Post that, “everyone’s making a lot out of it, thinking this is something bigger than what it is,” adding that he hasn’t had a conversation with the group about being a No Labels presidential candidate.
• Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) told The Hill: “[Manchin] is America’s biggest political tease. And I trust that he’ll make a judgment to run for reelection in West Virginia.”
• WaPo reports that the group’s 63-page Proposal Guide, “is short on specific proposals but filled with the group’s so-far frustrated ambitions to reimagine the structure of the nation’s polarized two-party politics.”
