Norway Approves Plans For Eldfisk North, Oseberg Oil Fields

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has approved the plans for the development and operation of Equinor’s Oseberg and ConocoPhilipp’s Eldfisk North oil and gas fields.

  • “Further development of Oseberg will increase recovery by almost 200mn b of oil equivalent. Most of this is gas that can be delivered to European markets”, Minister of Petroleum Energy Terje Aasland said.
  • “Now that we have received final approval for Eldfisk North, we will continue our work towards first oil planned for 2024”, Manager Capital Projects ConocoPhilipps Norway Tor Inge Hansen said.
  • The resource potential is estimated to be in the range of 50-90mn bl of oil equivalent.
  • The Eldfisk North project will use available capacity for processing and transport in the existing infrastructure in the Greater Ekofisk area.
  • Plans for the development and operation were submitted in May this year.
