Norway’s Sverdrup Crude Output Seen Declining from Late 2024: Platts

Norway’s flagship Johan Sverdrup field was expected to enter production decline very late in 2024 or early 2025, the CEO of the Aker BP said July 12, cited by Platts.

  • The phase 3 development of Sverdrup should be finalised in Q4 2024, with production start-up commencing in late 2027.
  • Johan Sverdrup is Norway’s highest-producing field at 755k b/d, around one third of the country’s total production. Actual crude output in Q1 was 705k b/d.
