  • ZEW Expectations increased Feb, rising 9.4pt to 71.2, stronger than the market median (BBG: 60).
  • This marks the highest reading since Sep and a third consecutive gain.
  • The ZEW Current Conditions deteriorated marginally in Feb, down 0.8pt to -67.2 - a weaker reading than anticipated (BBG: -66.0)
  • While the assessment of the current situation remained at a low level for the past six months, financial market experts were more optimistic about the future.
  • "Consumption and retail trade in particular are expected to recover significantly, accompanied by higher inflation expectations," comments ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach on expectations.
  • Economic sentiment in the Eurozone rose as well by 11.3pt to 69.6in Feb, while current conditions edged up by 4.3pt to -74.6.
