*Dollar-yen opened in Asia toward the upper side of the Y112.32 to Y112.94 range
witnessed yesterday, where despite strong US data, non-manufacturing activity
(ISM) surged to the highest level since August 2005, the dollar was broadly
unchanged on the day.
*As Tokyo markets opened for business, demand surfaced to push the dollar higher
from Y112.73 to Y112.92
*Once that demand was absorbed, the dollar eased lower to Y112.69 and then
consolidated in a tight Y112.72-79 range for the balance of the session
*Resistance lies at Y112.94/95, (Oct4 high and hourly high Oct 3), while support
is found at Y112.32 (Oct4 low).
*US Initial Jobless Claims, Trade Balance and Durable Goods provide the event
risks for the session ahead.
