Off Early Highs, But Cyclicals Lead

Equities / futures are up Wednesday but off early highs. It's cyclicals leading the charge in Europe (energy, financials), with tech lagging.

  • Asian markets closed mixed, with Japan's NIKKEI up 350.86 pts or +1.33% at 26817.94 and the TOPIX up 20.61 pts or +1.17% at 1779.42. China's SHANGHAI closed down 38.213 pts or -1.12% at 3371.964 and the HANG SENG ended 198.28 pts higher or +0.75% at 26502.84.
  • European stocks are higher, with the German Dax up 130.07 pts or +0.98% at 13330.43, FTSE 100 up 32.83 pts or +0.5% at 6583.56, CAC 40 up 13.88 pts or +0.25% at 5560.67 and Euro Stoxx 50 up 18.18 pts or +0.52% at 3536.46.
  • U.S. futures are mostly higher, with the Dow Jones mini up 89 pts or +0.3% at 30259, S&P 500 mini up 8.75 pts or +0.24% at 3710.75, NASDAQ mini down 1.25 pts or -0.01% at 12636.25.
