OIL: Francine Expected to Make Louisiana Landfall on Wednesday

Tropical storm Francine is expected to become a hurricane soon the National Hurricane Center said in a recent update.

  • Storm surge and hurricane warnings are in effect for the Louisiana Coast.
  • Francine is “anticipated to be just offshore of the coasts of northern Mexico and southern Texas through Tuesday, and make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday,” the center said.
  • Francine forced some oil drillers to halt production and evacuate crews in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • The storm’s forecast path intersects with fields that account for roughly 125,000 barrels of crude and 300 million cubic feet of natural gas on a daily basis Bloomberg reported.
