OIL: North Dakota Oil Output Down 50k to 80kb/d Amid Wildfires

North Dakota oil production is estimated down nearly 50k to 80kb/d on Oct. 11 due to the ongoing wildfires in the U.S. state according to the North Dakota Pipeline Authority cited by Reuters.

  • It is the third largest oil producing state in the US with an output of 1.161m b/d in July, according to EIA data.
  • Associated wellhead natural gas production is estimated to be down 0.15-0.24bcf/d.
  • The state has been battling wildfires since Oct. 6 and ExxonMobil shut some oil wells and production sites in North Dakota.
  • "Our teams are working with emergency responders to assess the damage in areas where wildfires have passed. We will work with industry partners and the local power co-ops to safely restart wells and sites over the coming days," Exxon said.
