OIL OPTIONS: ICE Brent Nov24 Option Expiry Today

  • A total of 705mbbls of open November Brent options positions are currently due to expire today. Open interest is 470k call contracts and 235k for puts.
  • The aggregate open interest across ICE Brent call option contracts is relatively unchanged from this time last month at 2.14m contracts but put open interest has risen to 1.44m contracts with the market still wary of downside risks due to possible oversupply despite the recent price recovery.
  • The futures price rally in the last couple of weeks has taken the market close to the $75/bbl strike which currently shows open interest of 10.3k of puts and 10.5k of calls. Larger open interest also sits above the current market at the $77/bbl, $78/bbl and $80/bbl strikes.
