OIL PRODUCTS: German Regions Struggle With Tight Supply on Lower Refinery Output
OIL PRODUCTS
Some regions in Germany are struggling with reduced refinery output, according to Argus, as diesel imports into northern Germany almost doubled m/m in September with slightly higher domestic demand.
- Distillate supply in Cologne is tight as a major supplier at Shell's 340k b/d Rhineland refinery halted spot sales of heating oil and diesel in mid-September due to an unplanned unit outage.
- Spot gasoline sales were also restricted until the beginning of last week. Traders in the region are buying gasoline elsewhere due to high local prices despite rising supply.
- Supply is also restricted by maintenance at the 187kb/d Godorf plant of the Rhineland refinery while production levels at Bayernoil's 215kb/d Vohburg-Neustadt refinery fell last week amid unplanned works.
- The Miro's 310kb/d Karlsruhe refinery and the PCK's 230kb/d Schwedt refinery are oversupplied amid restricted transport due to rail works near Schwedt.
