OIL: Russian Oil Production Near OPEC+ Target in August

Russia’s oil output ion August was close to its OPEC+ target according to Bloomberg sources with access to Energy Ministry data.

  • Russia produced 8.983 million barrels a day of crude in August, 62,000 bpd lower than July and 5,000 bpd above its OPEC+ target.
  • OPEC+ has focussed on nations like Russia, Kazakhstan and Iraq to comply with targets to try and gain more cohesion in the group to shore up global crude supplies – especially against a weak pricing backdrop.
  • Russia will make small compensation adjustments in October and November for this year’s overproduction but the bulk of the extra curbs will only come next summer.
