- Opposition's Nation Alliance surpasses the ruling coalition (People's Alliance) in the polls for the first time since 2018.
- Support for the NA lifted 2.8% to 44.1% with the PA fell 3.4% to 41.6%. 64% of those polled believed Erdogan winning the 2023 elections was a negative outcome. Meanwhile, the HDP increased its support by 0.5% to 11.7% - KONDA Survey
- 63rd round of exploratory talks took place between Greece & turkey yesterday with the content not publicly disclosed. However, AKP Spox Omer Celik made some inflammatory comments: "The Blue Homeland is our red line, it is an integral part of our homeland" stated Celik and added that "we will fight for the Blue Homeland, and we will pay any cost."
- He also called on Greece and Cyprus to abandon "their maximalist conduct in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean." Also highlighted the recent pushback of a Greek-Cypriot ship flying under a Maltese flag (Nautical Geo) and called for the demilitarisation of islands in the eastern Aegean
- Opposition leader Kilicdaroglu calls for a report on Erdogan's health, claiming it is an issue of national security. Comes after a journalist wrote an article highlighting Erdogan's potential inability to run for president in 2023 due to poor health
- Turkish Parliament starts the new legislative year by targeting 4 Kurdish MPs' immunity in the HDP and DBP parties. Motions still need to be voted on before the immunities are lifted, however.
