US DATA: Overall Jan employment data were generally strong, with 
payrolls higher than expected, the unemp rate stayed at 4.1%, as hourly 
earnings came in stronger than expected at +0.3% m/m and +2.9% y/y.
- Nonfarm payrolls +200k in Jan, private jobs +196k, both beating
expectations but following -24k net revision to Nov-Dec jobs.
- Benchmark revisions to the payrolls data did not alter the recent 
pattern significantly.
- Unemp rate stayed at the 17-year low of 4.1% (unrounded 4.149% vs 
4.095% in Dec), with participation rate steady at 62.7%. Household 
employed and unemployed rose. U-6 unemployment rate +0.1% to 8.2%. 
- Within payrolls, there were stronger gains for construction, retail, 
leisure and hospitality, and education and health services, partially 
offset by weakness in nondurable goods, utilities, information, and 
motor vehicles and parts.
