Pace of QE unchanged initially

The pace of QE will remain unchanged at first but purchases are to continue until end 2021.

  • MNI calculations show that with the Christmas break and repurchases included, at the current pace the extra GBP150bln QE would be exhausted at the end of the first week of November 2021.
  • The Bank says that there is "flexibility to slow the pace of purchases later" while also noting that " should market functioning worsen materially again" the pace can be increased.
