Pakistan Allows 50,000 mt Fuel Oil Export this Week

REFINING

Pakistan’s biggest refiner Pak Arab Refinery is set to export around 50,000 mt of fuel oil this week according to Platts reports. The volume could also be 10% higher.

  • The government is allowing the export volumes to reduce domestic stockpiles and support refinery optimization.
  • Pakistan’s PARCO, National Refinery and Attock Refinery had been allowed to export 120,000 mt of fuel over June for similar reason.
  • In May, Pakistani refineries had exported around 150,411 mt of fuel oil, up 59.5% y/y according to Oil Companies Advisory Council data.
  • The government has been shifting to cheaper power generating fuels like gas, coal and LNG which has supported fuel oil builds.
