PAP Survey Shows Economists See Dovish Shift In MPC Orientation

NBP

The perceived attitudes of most members of the Monetary Policy Council shifted to the dovish side, according to a survey conducted by PAP news wire among 14 analytical desks. The average score for the entire MPC fell to 2.5 from 2.8 in the previous survey on a scale from 1 to 5 representing the spectrum from the most dovish to the most hawkish approach.

  • Most MPC members are still assessed as dovish, with scores of 1.5-2.1. The average for the whole Council is pushed higher by the three members nominated by the Senate (Tyrowicz, Kotecki, Litwiniuk), whose scores are within the 3.5-5.0 range. Ireneusz Dabrowski (1.5) is seen as the most dovish policymaker, while Joanna Tyrowicz (5.0) is the leading hawk.
  • The latest poll was taken between September 1-5. The previous survey was conducted in March.
