Parts of Rhine River Shipping Halts on High Water

Parts of the Rhine river in southern Germany were closed to cargo shipping on Monday after heavy rains raised water levels, the German inland waterways navigation agency WSA said, cited by Reuters.

  • Rhine river shipping stopped around Maxau and Mannheim in south Germany.
  • Shipping on the northern sections of the river is so far operating normally.
  • Rhine water levels at the Kaub measuring point rose to 1.83m over the past three days to 5.42m on Monday morning according to the WSA.
