Physical Atlantic Crude Market May Have Bottomed Out: Sparta

The Atlantic crude market may have finally found a floor with some signs of improving demand, according to Sparta Commodities, cited by Bloomberg.

  • “Physical crude should soon start to feel the effects of higher buying for 3Q runs, with seasonality still a source of strength ahead,” Sparta’s Neil Crosby said in a note.
  • Demand is currently firmer for heavier grades such as Johan Sverdrup. These are proving as an alternative for Aramco cargoes whose OSPs to Europe have been raised.
  • Sparta also said that there has been limited movement in premiums for North Sea and WAF grades.
  • The arbitrage opportunity to the East remains open since the Brent-Dubai EFS is substantially weaker than during Q2.
