PiS Holding Onto Poll Lead, But Tusk's Civic Coalition Gaining

POLAND

Latest opinion poll from Pollster shows the incumbent right-wing Law & Justice (PiS) party retaining a lead, although the main opposition centre-right Civic Coalition (KO) continues to gain.

  • Pollster poll: PiS: 37% (=), KO: 26% (+2), PL2050: 15% (-1), Confederation: 9% (-1), Left: 8% (+1). +/- vs. 26-27 August 2021. Fieldwork: 2-3 September 2021. Sample size: 1,047
  • The next election is not due until November 2023 at the latest, but the current United Right alliance administration of PM Mateusz Morawiecki sits as a minority supported in a confidence and supply agreement, raising the prospect of a snap election if party allegiances fray.
  • While the Civic Coalition trails PiS in polling, the broad nature of former Prime Minister and European Council president Donald Tusk's bloc could see it draw in support from other centrist or left-wing parties if it is seen as having a good chance of removing PiS from office.
