AUSTRALIA
AUSTRALIA: PM Morrison largely echoes what we have heard from Treasurer
Frydenberg as the government continues to come round to the idea that it will
need to loosen the fiscal purse strings, and perhaps forego chances of a budget
surplus as it reacts to coronavirus developments.
- BBG note that Morrison has stated that fiscal response to the virus will have
to be targeted, measureable and scalable.
- Morrison also notes that the government is highly aligned with the RBA re: the
economic response to the virus.
