PM Spox-Gov't Could Change Parl't Recess Dates To Accommodate Fiscal Event

Wires carrying comments from PM Liz Truss' spox Max Blain. States that the UK gov't is going to confirm details of energy support package for business next week.

  • Also states that the gov't is looking at changing the dates of the parliamentary recess. This could allow more time for the gov't to hold fiscal event announcement. Presently, Commons returns on 21 September following the funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, but then rises on 22 Sep for the party conference season.
  • Spox: Business support to be backdated to 1 Oct if needed [this is the date the new energy price cap comes into force].
