POLAND: FinMin Sees No Need To Amend Budget, Econ Activity Data On Tap

  • Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko used a meeting with graduates of military universities to signal his intention to open talks with neighbouring Poland and Lithuania amid simmering tensions over his alleged efforts to create a migration crisis on their borders. In addition, Lukashenko announced a relaxation of the visa regime for visitors from 35 European countries, an apparent goodwill gesture that could precede further overtures.
  • Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski told Money.pl that he does not currently anticipate changes to this year's budget but "we will see how revenues evolve in the coming months." He outlined the planned reform of financing regional authorities, noting that during the transition period the government will review their needs and make decisions on potential additional subsidies in September/October.
  • Statistics Poland will release the first batch of June economic activity data at 09:00BST/10:00CEST. Today's data dump will include:
    • Average gross wages (BBG est. +11.5% Y/Y)
    • Employment (BBG est. -0.4% Y/Y)
    • Sold industrial output (BBG est. -1.5% Y/Y)
    • PPI (BBG est. -6.2% Y/Y)
