POLAND: Minister Keen to Maintain Energy Price Shield in 2025

  • According to a post on social media, Climate Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska has said that Poland should extend current subsidies for household energy prices into 2025.
  • The minister stated this money for the shield has been included in her ministry’s 2025 budget draft. No further details were provided and the minister said the final decision is up to the whole government
  • Bloomberg have noted that last week, the country’s energy regulator URE said that the new bill raising the power price cap for H2 2024 is the first step in gradual unfreezing of energy prices for households. The regulator noted a lack of justification to further extend frozen, non-market prices for electricity and natural gas.
