Polish-Ukraine Capacity Auction for August Successful

POWER

All 140MW of capacity on the unilateral auction between Ukraine-Poland (Zamosc-Dobrotwor) on offer for August delivery sold at PLN0.02/MWh compared to no successful bids in the previous auction, PSE said.

  • One person took part in the August auction, while in the July auction, 180MW was on offer with no participants taking part – leading to no valid bids.
  • No auctions have occurred between Poland’s substation near Rzeszow and Ukraine’s Khmenlnytska nuclear power plant station since January due to day-ahead auctions being held on the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) platform.
  • Ukraine intends to increase the capacity that it can import from EU power states, with Poland aiming to support by burning more Polish coal without paying for the CO2 emissions.
