Poll Shows First 'No To Independence' Lead Since June 2020

SCOTLAND

A second opinion poll in quick succession shows declining support for First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's Scottish National Party (SNP) and Scottish independence in general amidst an internal scandal in the party regarding allegations made against former First Minister Alex Salmond.

  • Holyrood Voting Intention:
    • Constituency: SNP: 50% (-1), CON: 21% (+2), LAB: 20% (+1), LDM: 7% (-2)
    • List: SNP: 38% (-2), CON: 21% (+4), LAB: 20% (-1), GRN: 11% (=), LDM: 8% (=)
    • Via @Survation, 25-26 Feb. Changes w/ 11-13 Jan.
  • Independence poll: No to independence: 44% (+1), Yes to independence 43% (-2). Via @Survation, 25-26 Feb. Changes w/ 11-13 Jan.
  • While these polls show the SNP retaining a commanding lead, the fact that this is the second set of polls in a row showing declining support for the SNP will be a cause for concern for the pro-independence party.
  • The independence poll is the first showing a plurality in favour of remaining part of the union since June 2020.
