Port of Freeport Shut due to Bad Weather

The port of Freeport in Texas, including a crude-exporting terminal and docks for a refinery, were closed Jan. 05 due amid inclement weather, according to Bloomberg citing Moran Shipping.

  • Ports of Texas City, Galveston and the Houston Ship Channel are still open, Bloomberg said.
  • The Freeport area includes docks supporting the Phillips 66 Sweeny refinery and the Seaway terminal. The terminal exports US crude grades including Domestic Sweet and Canadian Cold Lake oil.
