Port of Houston Fully Reopens to All Vessels

The Port of Houston fully reopened to all vessel traffic July 11, allowing oil tankers to load and unload for the first time since closing July 7 due to Hurricane Beryl, Moran shipping said, cited by Bloomberg.

  • It has now dropped the draft restrictions of 35 feet which was previously in place, returning to the usual 45 feet, Bloomberg said.
  • The waterway provides access to multiple refineries and oil-exporting terminals.
  • Galveston is open to vessels of max draft of 35ft. The draft restriction is likely to be lifted later today.
  • Texas City is open, but daylight restricted. It has a 30ft draft restriction likely to be lifted later today.
  • Freeport is open, but daylight restricted. It currently has a 36ft draft restriction likely to be lifted later today.
