Portuguese December LNG Sendout Falls To Five-Year Low

LNG

Portuguese LNG sendout fell to the lowest for any December since 2017 as strong renewable generation led to much lower gas burn, according to Argusmedia.

  • Regasification averaged 118 GWh/d at the 6.9mn t/yr Sines import facility in December, the lowest for the month since 2017 and the second lowest for any month since June 2018.
  • LNG deliveries were the highest for any December on record at 4.9TWh and the most for any month since August.
  • LNG stocks at the Sines facility were at 374,000m³ at the start of today — around 96pc of capacity and well above the three-year average of 175,000m³ for the date.
  • Strong renewable generation weighed on power sector gas burn, which added to already slow industrial consumption and pushed aggregate Portuguese consumption to its lowest since May 2020.
