POWER: EdF to Curtail Nuclear Capacity on High Renewables

EdF will lower capacity at the 915MW Tricastin 4 to 316MW, the 1.49GW Civaux 1 reactor to 375MW and the 890MW Dampierre 3 to 180MW on 23 August amid high renewable output, latest Remit data show.

  • The Civaux 1 and Dampierre 3 reactors will be offline for one hour each.
  • And the Tricastin 4 will be disconnected over 11:00-15:00 CET.
  • French wind is expected at a 33% load factor, or 6.60GW on 23 August, with peak solar at a 42% load factor, 7.88GW, on the same day, according to Spot Renewables.
  • Power demand in France is expected between 33.6GW and 48.5GW on Friday, RTE data showed.
