POWER: EEX to Add Irish Future, Extend Expiries of Dutch, French From November

EEX is launching Irish Base Power Futures and extending expiries for power derivatives in France, and the Netherlands to 10 calendar years from six from 25 Nov, while long-term deals in Spain, Italy, and Germany exceeded 10TWh so far in 2024, it said. 

  • The new Irish offering allows market participants to trade EEX power derivatives across 23 European markets.
  • The extended expiries will support PPA hedging on the exchange and incorporation of renewables, EEX added.
