France October power base load is falling sharply with losses in the European energy complex and an upward revision in temperature forecast, limiting early heating demand expectations.

  • TTF Gas OCT 24 down 2.7% at 34.7 EUR/MWh
  • Nuclear availability in France was stable at 74% as of Monday morning, RTE data showed, cited by Bloomberg.
  • 1.3GW Cattenom 1 has been halted since 01:00 CET 15 Sept until 00:00 CET 18 Sept for modulation. 1.5GW GW Chooz 2 will halt 16 Sept 13:30 CET until 17 Sept 21:00 CET for modulation. 910MW Blayais 2 will halt 16 Sept 16:30 CET until 18 Sept 00:00 CET for modulation.
  • The latest 6-10 days ECMWF weather forecast for Paris suggested mean temperatures will rise above normal on 17 September and will remain above normal until 23 Sept, after which temperatures are in line with the average.
  • Power demand in France is forecast to peak at 50.86GW on Monday and at 50.84GW on Tuesday, Entso-E data showed.
  • In France, wind output is forecast at a daily average of 4.85GW on Monday and rise to 9.4GW on Tuesday according to Bloomberg.
