POWER: France Nov Power Tracks 2% Weekly Increase

 French front-month power is edging lower today with losses in the energy complex and a slight upward revision in temperatures. The contract is tracking a weekly net increase of just above 2%, while the discount to the German market slightly narrowed on the week. 

  • France Base Power NOV 24 down 1.1% at 75.65 EUR/MWh
  • Germany Base Power NOV 24 down 1.6% at 88 EUR/MWh
  • EUA DEC 24 down 0.5% at 64.66 EUR/MT
  • TTF Gas NOV 24 down 1.2% at 39.8 EUR/MWh
  • Nuclear availability in France decreased to 69% of capacity as of Friday morning, down from 71% on Thursday, RTE data showed, cited by Bloomberg.
  • Planned maintenance at 915MW Cruas 2 has been extended by two days until 13 October. Planned maintenance at 1.31GW Golfech 1 has been extended by four days until 17 October.
  • The latest 6-10 day ECMWF weather suggested mean temperatures in Paris to remain below normal until 14 October, before rising above normal for the remainder of the forecast period.
  • Power demand in France is forecast at a maximum of 51.39GW on Friday, before falling to 47.84GW and 47.77GW on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, Entso-E data showed.
  • Wind output in France is forecast to increase to 4.37GW during base load on Saturday, up from 1.66GW forecasted for Friday. Solar PV output is forecast to decline on Saturday to 3.45GW during peak load, down from 5.9GW forecasted for Friday according to Spotrenewables.
  • Planned maintenance at the Eichstetten-Vogelgrun interconnectors between France and Belgium and France and Germany is expected to conclude on Friday 16:00 CET.
