POWER: Italy’s Agrivoltaic Tender Request Surpasses 1GW Target

POWER

Italy received around 1.7GW developer requests to take part in the country’s 1GW agrivoltaic tender, with appeals amounting to around €920mn of grants, Italy’s Ministry of Energy said.

  • “Many weren’t expecting this much demand, so it was a surprise, but over and above the incentives it shows the market has discounted concern about agrivoltaics and is available to build these plants as the benefits are clear,” partner at developer ReFeel Matteo Donati said, cited by Montel.
  • Most of the requests were in southern Italy at 56%.
  • Participants will receive a 40% grant for projects, along with 20-year CfD starting at €85/MWh, plus €5/MWh for central Italy and €10/MWh for the north due to lower sunlight.
  • The 1GW of capacity is planned to come online by the end of June 2026, with up to 300MW for projects up to 1MW and the 700MW for solar projects of any side that includes at least one agricultural group.
