POWER: Lithunian Litgrid Approves 2GW of Renewables

Lithuanian TSO Ltigrid has approved or partially approved around 2GW of wind, solar and PV projects over June-September, with letters of intent being offered, it said.

  • 464MW of wind, 500MW of solar and 1.02GW or around 2.33GWh of storage has been preliminary reserved.
  • After the previous 3-month cycle, around 15 projects have been proposed letter of intent or a total permitted generation capacity of 1.7GW.
  • In 2024, 19 letters of intent have already been signed, with a total permitted generation capacity of 1.63GW.
  • The permitted generation capacity operating in Lithuania is at 3.3GW, with forecasts suggesting this could increase to 10GW by 2030 due to the growth of export capabilities and demand.
