POWER: Poland Request Additional Funds to Freeze Energy Prices

POWER

Poland's ministers of Finance and Climate and Environment are requesting additional funds for the 2025 budget to place a partial freeze on energy prices as the PLN2bn (€470mn) promised is not “enough”, the Minister of Finance Andrzej Domanski said, cited by ISB News.

  • Poland has some of the highest energy prices in the bloc, which impacts industrial sectors… “So of course we can freeze energy prices year after year, spend taxpayers' money on it, but we have to act to lower energy prices in Poland," the minister added.
  • Earlier, the Minister of Climate and Environment mentioned that the maximum energy price should remain unchanged at PLN 500/MWh in 2025.
