Power POSITIONING – Investment Funds Positioning Most Bullish Since Sep 23

Investment funds net short positions in ICE German power futures turned the most bullish since the week of 15 September 2023, according to the COT data for the week of 31 May. This could lead to price increases of German power forward contracts in the short-term.

  • Investment Funds net position rose sharply by 664,997 to -311,569.
  • Investment Firms net position increased by 255,880 to +673,223.
  • Commercial Undertaking net position declined by 909,046 to 4.329mn.
  • Germany Base Pwr JUL 24 up 1.7% at 77.85 EUR/MWh.
  • TTF Gas JUL 24 up 1.5% at 34.315 EUR/MWh.
