POWER: RWE Raises Green Power Generation YoY in Jan-Sept 2024

POWER

RWE’s renewable power generation reached 36.13TWh in the first nine months of this year, up by 14% year on year, it said.

  • RWE’s offshore wind generation increased to 8.05TWh in Q1-Q3 2024, up from 7.34TWh in the same period last year, due to better wind conditions.
  • Onshore wind and solar PV output increased to 24.55TWh in Jan-Sept, up from 20.15TWh a year earlier. This is due to the commissioning of new capacity in the US and Europe, the acquisition of CEB in the US and better wind conditions in Europe.
  • The utility’s gas-fired generation in the first nine months of this year decreased sharply to 22.04TWh, down from 33.06TWh in 2023 amid market price driven lower generation in Germany, the UK and the Netherlands as well as outages in the UK and the Netherlands.
  • The utility also lowered CO2 emissions in Jan-Sept this year by 21% on the year.
