Q: How would the sharp fall in sterling pass through to inflation? Could this
lead to real wages falling again?
- A: Ben Broadbent answers: 40% of what we consume is imported. Effects take
several years to come through. Petrol, food prices react relatively quickly.
Starting from a base where real wages are growing strongly so would take a big
move to push real wages negative.
Q: Does money spent by govt on no deal preparation rule our risks govt has spelt
out?
- A: Number of SMEs not set up to export to third country - this is overseen by
govt. Announcement today by govt is that more needs to be done.
