QAir Eyes 1GW of Spanish Floating Wind

French Qair is planning to install just over 1GW of floating offshore wind in Spain, with the country hoping to implement 3GW of floating wind capacity by 2030, the firm said cited by El Espanol.

  • The capacity includes the 594MW Roleria – off the coast of Galicia –, the 236MW Tamaragua and 180MW Gregal floating wind projects located in the Mediterranean Sea.
  • The Spanish government has not released any information about the timing of the auction or the specific sea areas that are available for bidding.
  • Proposals for over 20GW of offshore wind projects have reached the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, according to El Espanol.
