JAPAN: (refile) BoP data revealed that Japanese funds bought a record amount of
Spanish sovereign bonds in the month of April (a net Y349.9bln), setting a
record for a second consecutive month. They also upped their net purchases of
Italian sovereign bonds to the highest level since April 2016 (Y196.4bln). The
funds became net sellers of German sovereign bonds for the first month in four,
shedding a net Y685.1bln. They became net buyers of US government paper for the
first month in seven, buying a net Y171.6bln worth.
