MNI BRIEF: Bullard- Fed Welcomes Inflation Expectations Rise

(MNI)

The Federal Reserve welcomes an uptick in inflation expectations that has been the product of better-than-expected economic activity and the central bank's framework shift, which emphasizes patience in raising rates, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard said Wednesday.

"This is very welcome from the committee's point of view and we may see further adjustment in these inflation expectations going forward," Bullard told a webinar.

MNI reported exclusively last week the Fed would likely wait until most Fed members' forecasts show consistent overshoot of the 2% target.
