Renewables Reached 58% of German Power Mix in 1H24

Renewables have covered 58% of the German power consumption in the first half of this year, up from 52% in the same period last year, German lobby group BDEW said.

  • The increase was largely due to higher solar PV output that rose to 37TWh in the first six months of this year.
  • Onshore wind output totalled 62TWh, while offshore wind output stood at 14TWh.
  • The increase in the renewables share is due to increasing capacity, BDEW head Kerstin Andreae said.
  • German power consumption totalled 250TWh in the first half of this year, unchanged on the year.
