RENEWABLES: Spanish Solar PV Output Rises 19% Year on Year

Solar PV output in Spain has reached 37.55TWh so far this year as of 5 October, surpassing solar output of 37.47TWh for all of 2023, data from Red Electrica showed. 

  • Solar PV output so far this year as of 5 October stood 19% above levels during the same time last year.
  • The increase in solar PV output is due to favourable weather conditions and higher installed capacity.
  • Solar generation in Spain reached 18.3% of the total power mix so far this year. Wind output had a share of 22.4%.
  • Spain has added 725MW of new solar PV capacity in September with total capacity reaching 28.61GW as of 1 October, data from Red Electrica showed last week.
