Retail Sales Shrink, Coalition To Speak With Trade Unions

  • The leaders of Czechia's five-party ruling coalition will meet with trade unions' representatives this afternoon (16:30GMT/17:30CET) to discuss the government's economic policies.
  • Czechia's ex-auto retail sales shrank by 4.0% Y/Y in October versus -3.7% expected after a 2.8% contraction in September. This comes after weak outturns for industrial production and construction output released yesterday.
  • The Pirate Party's National Forum endorsed a call for the dismissal of Jakub Michalek, leader of the parliamentary caucus, from the party's top governing body (Republic Committee). The vote stemmed from dissatisfaction with Michalek's proposal to empower party presidency. DenikN reports that the lawmaker intends to step down from the position of the Pirates' parliamentary faction. However, the Republic Committee appeared determined to push the changes through.
