Retail sales continued to grow in the final quarter of 2017, driven 
primarily by Black Friday-boosted spending in November. With a lot of 
spending brought forward into November, sales volumes fell sharply in 
December, the biggest December fall since 2010. Sales volumes were down 
1.9% over 2017, the weakest annual growth since 2013, and the first 
deceleration in growth since 2010. In seasonally-adjusted value terms, 
internet sales accounted for 17.2% of sales in December, up from 16.7% 
in November and 15.8% in December 2016.
