- Russian oil major Rosneft said last week’s seizure of its German unit was illegal and that it will consider all measures to protect ownership of the assets. The German government took control of Rosneft’s assets, which includes three oil refineries, as Berlin moved to take control of its energy industry.
- Kommersant report that German buyers of Russian natural gas have resumed filing bids for supplies via the Nord Stream pipeline for the first time since Sep 2, when the pipeline was shut down. Reuters clarifies that the bids are requests for supply but are not an indication that supplies have resumed.
- Counter-sanctions legislation, which provides for fines for violating “retaliatory” sanctions imposed in Russia against “unfriendly” jurisdictions, will be systematically enforced, Kommersant report.
- The Ministry of Industry and Trade expects that the volume of parallel imports will amount to $20bln by the end of the year, Deputy Prime Minister Manturov said, having previously predicted that the figure would be $16bln.
- Foreign Minister Lavrov will hold a closed-door meeting with foreign ambassadors in Moscow ahead of the 77th session of UN General Assembly while Economy Minister Reshetnikov takes part in parliamentary hearings on economic development in the face of sanctions. Secretary of the Security Council Patrushev will visit China to attend strategic security consultations with the country’s senior officials.
