RUSSIA: Putin Expected to Hold Bilateral Talks with China’s Xi, Turkey’s Erdogan

  • President Vladimir Putin visits Kazakhstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit today, where he plans to hold bilateral talks with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Putin's meeting with the latter will take place at 13:00BST.
  • According to Kommersant, Russian companies largely completed the replacement of outstanding Eurobonds by the beginning of July, the deadline set by the president. They placed over 80 replacement bond issues totalling $28.2bn in the past two years, including 33 issues totaling $7.05bn in 2024. The newspaper add that market participants are now waiting for the replacement of sovereign Eurobonds, which the Finance Ministry pledged to complete before the end of the year.
  • Retail sales, unemployment rate and the final reading of GDP data for Q1 will all cross this afternoon (17:00BST/19:00 local time).
